A fight between two girls escalates to a shooting involving adults. According to the police affidavit
, a mother and a shooter, 19, are now charged in connection with an attempted murder.
Joshua Fleetwood says the trouble began May 29th when Amelia Leaster brought her 12-year old daughter over to Fleetwood's home to fight his 10-year-old niece. "They just some kids around the neighborhood, who they was just playing with and somehow they didn't like one another."
But, things escalated quickly. "It just started with the kids fighting and somehow the grown-ups ended up in it." As a crowd formed around the fight, witnesses told police they saw Leaster give another teen a gun.
Police say that 19-year-old boy turned out to be Juwan Reynolds, who reportedly began to shoot at Fleetwood while he ran for his life. "He just came up out the car just shooting. So, I just took off running and was able to dodge two and he somehow caught me with two in my leg. I fell and just waited until he left and by that time, I hopped to the house," says Fleetwood.
Fleetwood was rushed to Erlanger Hospital where he told detectives what happened. While his wounds may be healing, bullet holes can be seen down the street. One neighbor has them peppered down the side panel of his car.
Reynolds was arrested and charged with five types of assault, reckless endangerment, and attempted first degree murder. But, it was only Thursday that police arrested Leaster, who they believe put Reynolds up to the shooting.
Through it all, Fleetwood says he holds no grudges. "You just can't do something and think you're going to get away with it. Eventually you are going to get caught. It done happened it's over with and I'm still living. It's over with for me."
