The body of a missing pregnant woman originally from Oak Ridge was found Sunday in a mine shaft and her alleged lover has been arrested in her murder, according to ABC-affiliate WATE
On Monday officials with the San Bernardino, California Sheriff's Office said they developed information that the remains of Erin Corwin, 20, had been placed in a mine shaft. After searching and investigating a number of mine shafts in the area, human remains were found in a shaft Saturday.
Crews were able to retrieve the remains from the shaft Sunday. Dental records showed the remains were Corwin's.
Officials in Anchorage, Alaska arrested Christopher Brandon Lee Sunday night. Officials say he is originally from Alaska and was in California due to his involvement with the United States Marine Corps.
Officials have not yet determined what specific charges he will face.
Court papers say Lee and Corwin were lovers and she had planned to meet Lee for a hunting trip on June 28. Corwin vanished on the way to Joshua Tree National Park on June 28.
She and her husband, Marine Cpl. Jonathan Corwin, are from Oak Ridge and lived at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Cal.
