Sunday Morning House Fire
An early Sunday morning fire destroys a family home. At 4:30 a.m., a neighbor called 911 reporting a house fire at 1045 Boy Scout Road, which is in the Dallas Bay Area.
Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a car and the garage on fire. Dallas Bay VFD immediately requested a mutual aid response to shuttle water to the scene. Red Bank Fire Department, Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Sale Creek VFD responded.
According to one of the family members, she got up to heat a bottle for a 3-month-old baby when she smelled wires burning in the house. This is when she says she woke up another family member to check out the garage. They both found their car on fire in the garage. They immediately pushed the car out of the garage to try to prevent the fire spreading throughout the house. Unfortunately, they were too late.
The fire spread from the garage to the house. Firefighters contained the blaze to one side of the home. Damages are estimated at $120,000.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
The American Red Cross was called and responded to the scene to assist 5 Adults and 4 Children.
