Walker County investigators are working to get to the
heart of what happened last night at the end of Fisher Road, specifically
23-year-old Anderson Trammell Watts, Jr., known as Andy, had
been shot multiple times.
Brooke Burnette lives next door. After the tremendous
commotion, Burnette's boyfriend found Watts dead inside apartment #22. Burnette
said, "I know it really upset Kyle because he seen him dead and he had
knew him and that's just too young for someone. It's just too young for someone
to die like that."
And investigators want to talk to 20-year-old Marcus
Sutton. Sheriff Steve Wilson said, "He may have been here last evening and
may have witnessed the crime or possibly could have been a party to the
Sutton's no stranger to crime. He has four outstanding
warrants: aggravated assault, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during
the commission of a crime, and violation of probation. Sheriff Wilson
explained, "About a month ago, he allegedly shot up an apartment complex
in the city limits of Rossville. In that shooting, a .40 caliber weapon was
used and also we know that last night a .40 caliber weapon was used."
Watts didn't live at the apartment, but had been staying
there for the past several nights. He attended Ridgeland High School for part
of his high school years, according to Wilson.
And this death hits close to home for Burnette, who lost
her cousin to murder in 2001. "Especially next door when it's just
supposed to be a regular night, then all of a sudden, he's gone."
And investigators don't yet know why. Sheriff Wilson
said, "To be honest with you we do not know the motive. We feel like if we
can get Mr. Sutton into custody we may be able to get some questions
On August 14, Sutton was released from prison. He had
served two years for gun-related crimes.
Investigators are asking for any assistance if Sutton is
seen, but caution to not approach him.
