Woman Arrested After Claim Child Was Taken
Police spent about an hour searching for a stolen vehicle they believed had a child in the backseat.
32-year-old Letrice Patterson called Chattanooga Police at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, saying her Silver 2010 Mercury Muron was stolen, and a child was in the backseat.
Every available officer from surrounding areas and jurisdiction began the search for the car.
After investigators began interviews with Patterson, they discovered her story wasn't consistent.
The child was found safe at school, where Patterson (the child's aunt) had dropped them off at 8:15 a.m.
Patterson was transported to Hamilton County Jail, and booked on charges of filing a false report during a criminal investigation.
The car has yet to be recovered.
A massive police search is underway Tuesday afternoon after a report of a stolen car with a young child sitting in the back seat.
