Volkswagen Builds Bike Trails Near Plant
Volkswagen is making friends on two
wheels near its new assembly plant in Chattanooga.
With the help of a $10,000 donation from the German automaker,
members of the Southern Off Road Bicycle Association are building
bike trails near the $1 billion assembly plant.
About four miles of trails have been completed at Enterprise
South Nature Park and the group hopes to have 10 miles finished
when a city and county park opens Oct. 11.
The trails also will be open for hikers.
The park is on the northern edge of the Volkswagen assembly
plant property where the company plans to start making a new
mid-size sedan early next year.
Bike association member Barry Smith told the Chattanooga Times
Free Press the trails should be appropriate for riders of any skill
level.
