Stabbing Over a Bicycle

Wednesday evening East Ridge Police were called to Sunny's Market at 1706 Keeble St. on a reported fight with a knife.

The stabbing victim was able to identify the suspect who was immediately detained just across the stae line in Georgia.

Victims told police that they were arguing over a bicycle and the suspect pulled out a knife. The suspect cut one male victim on the neck and attempted to cut another pregnant female victim. The female victim advised she was hit in the stomach and had a few small scratches. The male victim was transported the Park Ridge East by Lifeguard EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was not transported.

The suspect was identified as Calvin Steele III, 20, from Rossville, Ga. Warrants have been issued for 3 counts of Aggravated Assault. The third count was on behalf of the second victim's unborn child.

Because Mr. Steele was apprehended in Georgia he was transported to the Catoosa County Jail by the Catoosa County Sheriffs Office to await an extradition hearing. When the extradition process is complete Mr. Steele will be transported to the Hamilton County Jail and a court date will be set.
