Plea Entered in Shaken Baby Case

A child abuse case moves forward Tuesday in Chattanooga. A man set to stand trial for violently shaking a baby enters a plea, instead.

Tuesday morning, Ivan Waller took what his attorney described as a best interest plea for 10 years.
Back in April of 2007, Waller's 10-week-old son was shaken so badly, the infant suffered serious injuries to one side of his brain
Waller maintains his innocence, but in Hamilton County Judge Don Poole's courtroom, Waller took the deal that will make him eligible for parole in three years.
Waller's attorney says if convicted at trial, Waller would have been sentenced to at least 15 years.

Meanwhile, his son Iverson turned three-years-old just a couple of weeks ago.

"I wanna know why he did this to my son- robbed my son of everything normal," Holli Fields asked today. "I want an explanation. I know I'll probably never get one. It makes me bitter, but in my heart I've forgiven him to try to better myself and better my children's lives."
