A man who's been on the run from the law has seen his days of freedom come to an end, but not before a trip to the hospital.

49-year-old Alvin Lee Johnson of Gruetli-Laager is wanted by Alabama authorities for drug store robberies in Russellville. He's also wanted by authorities in Grundy County for aggravated assault.

Wednesday U.S. Marshals found Johnson at the Savage Gulf Market on Cagle Mountain in Sequatchie County. He was with 28-year-old Donna Kay Manley of Tracy City. When agents called Sequatchie and Van Buren County deputies for back up they surrounded Johnson's pickup but he rammed their cars and took off.

Sequatchie Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock said "he tried to back over me and didn't know I was back there and he kept ramming into the vehicle so he finally broke loose and went to the left toward them and there was an altercation at that time with some shots fired."

Moments later Johnson crashed his truck a block away and was later found in some woods off Highway 399. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a gunshot wound.

Johnson is now in jail facing numerous charges in Tennessee and Alabama. Manley is charged with drug possession.
