Most Wanted Found Dead
Comments 0 | Recommend 0TBI most wanted murder suspect Michael Shirley has been found in the Sequatchie River near Ketner's Mill. Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnette tells NewsChannel 9 searcher found Shirley's body around 2 p.m. Wednesday about a mile below the Ketner's Mill dam.
The TBI had been looking for him since they suspected he murdered his girlfriend Brandi Duba. She had been beaten and stabbed while her children slept in the living room.
Deputies discovered the murder when they responded to a car wreck on Ketner's Mill Rd. They found no one at the crash site, but learned the car was registered to Brandi Duba. When they went to her home, they discovetred an open front door and that's when they found Duba's body.
The sheriff said all the leads had dried up so they thought they would try the river again since the water levels were lower than when they were first looking for him.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Hamilton County STARS searched the river and found his body. They were able to identify him and have sent it to Nashville for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Sheriff Burnette says they suspected he might have been there the night of the crash but the water was high and they didn't see anything.
