New Wildlife Law Enforcers in Hamilton County

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has assigned two new wildlife officers to Hamilton County.

Jarod Coxey and Christy Twilla will join veteran officer Matt Majors in patrolling area woods and waters.

Coxey moves to his new position after previously working with TWRA as a wildlife technician in Meigs and Roane Counties. He is a native of Rhea County and a graduate of Tennessee Tech.

Twilla, a native of Dyersburg, has been employed with TWRA for six years. She began as an intern. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology in 2005. Following her graduation, Twilla obtained a wildlife technician position at TWRA Region I office in Jackson.

Twilla received the prestigious honor of receiving the George Gregory Memorial Award, which is presented at the commission ceremony to the most outstanding officer in the class of new officers.

As wildlife officers, Coxey and Twilla will be responsible for enforcing and educating the public of hunting and fishing, laws, boating regulations, and conducting hunter education classes.

Hamilton County is one of the few counties in the state fortunate enough to have three wildlife officers assigned. There are roughly 150 officers in the entire state. The number of wildlife officers assigned in each county is typically determined by population.
