Jackpot for Grandfather of Thirteen

A grandfather of 13 is feeling honored to win the lottery as Father's Day approaches. Eugene Christian from East Ridge is one of three people each to win a $38,325 jackpot prize from matching all five winning numbers in the May 28 Fantasy 5 drawing.

Christian, 75, purchased his winning ticket at Mapco Express in Rossville, using a combination of family birthdays. The other jackpot winning tickets were purchased in Atlanta and Dunwoody.

Winning numbers from the May 28 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 8-12-21-23-25. Christian saw his numbers on TV the following day while drinking his morning coffee.

"I knew I had four. I was holding my breath on the fifth number," he said. "I had this funny feeling go down my backbone. I couldn't believe it."

Retired 15 years from a combustion engineering plant in Chattanooga, Christian boasts of his four adult children with his wife, Patricia, and their grandchildren. He plans to pay off bills and his home mortgage with his lottery win.

"I always was a real fan of Fantasy 5," he said, laughing. "I'm an even bigger fan today."

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning jackpot Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the jackpot winning tickets will share the bonus. Mapco Express will share a $4,000 retailer incentive bonus.
