Donetta Yates was bound over to a grand jury today on a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder.

Yates is accused of stabbing her sister 20 times with a butcher knife on May 3.

It happened at 725 West Main Street. That's where Linda Hood was living and where police say her sister, Donetta Renee Yates showed up asking for money. Police say when Hood refused, Yates took out a butchers knife and stabbed her sister 20 times in the neck, arms, and legs.

We talked with friends of Hood off camera. They say she's a wonderful person who keeps to herself. They said Yates has gotten into arguments before and was known to carry a knife and use it.

Chattanooga Police spokesperson Kim Noorbergan said, "This is a serious crime, stabbing somebody 20 times that's very serious, just fortunately she didn't get hit in any major arteries."

Yates bond is set at $500,000.
