Memphis cop sentenced for sex with prostitutes
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A former Memphis police officer who coerced sex from prostitutes, including a 15-year-old, will serve six months in prison and six years of probation.
Criminal Court Judge John Colton Jr. on Thursday denied James George's request for diversion.
Colton also ordered the 52-year-old to write letters of apology to his victims and the community.
The Commercial Appeal reports Colton said he could not tell if George, a 13-year veteran who resigned last April, had any remorse for his acts.
George was one of four officers accused last year of forcing prostitutes to have sex in their squad cars. He pleaded guilty last month to official misconduct and official oppression.
George told the judge that he had sex on duty more times than he wanted to say. He said he thought the 15-year-old prostitute was 18.
