WTVC Station History

NewsChannel 9 signed on the air from it's transmitter building on Signal Mountain in 1958. The transmitter remains on the mountain, but our offices and studios moved to downtown Chattanooga in 1966.

We're proud to have broadcast Four Decades of quality television. Of course that kind of quality isn't possible without quality people. On these pages, we'd like to share some of the memories, the history and the personalities of WTVC-TV you've allowed into your lives and living rooms for so many years.
