Audiences of all ages will experience an enthusiasm for science while attending the various programs presented at the WTVC NewsChannel9 Science Theatre. In our WONDERS OF SCIENCE demonstrations, students are dazzled with spectacular examples of physical and chemical phenomena. Students attending the entertaining programs and demonstrations have often said, "It's magic!" Indeed, it does seem like magic. But the explanation of how the "illusions" are accomplished is by using the laws of physical and chemical science and the principles of motion, heat, electricity, sound, magnetism and light.
Students and teachers alike will be amazed when a liquid nitrogen cannon fires, and at the demonstrations of sound wave action. You could also see sparks of electricity fly across the room from our 1 million volt Tesla coil or you may see objects that seem to defy gravity. Jaws will drop, eyes will widen, and hair may literally "stand on end".
In the process of having fun, students will learn how the interaction of matter and energy is a part of everyday life. Our shows are the best kind of magic. It's the magic of LEARNING! Excitement about science will suddenly become self-sustaining in children of all ages and will encourage them to want to learn even MORE about science.
