Hanson Pitches Braves Past Mets
Another game, another win... the 5th in a row Wednesday night for the Braves, who are a step closer to the National League eastern division title.
The Braves struck early against the Mets at Turner Field. Omar Infante started the bottom of the first with a single, Jason Heyward doubled, Martin Prado's double got 'em both home.
Infante's two-out single in the second scored Rick Ankiel. Heyward's double got Infante home for a 4-0 lead.
Tommy Hanson, who hadn't won a game since July, made those runs stand up, allowing only two base-runners in 7 innings... one on a hit, one on a walk. Hanson struck out 3, turning a 4-0 lead over to the bullpen.
The Mets scored a run off of Jonny Venters in the 8th but Billy Wagner shut 'em down in the 9th for his 31st save of the season.
The Braves win, 4-1... they'll go for the sweep tomorrow night.
Atlanta is now a season-best 23 games over .500.
They stay 3 games ahead of the Phillies in the race for the NL east title. The Phillies won 5-1 today in Los Angeles.
