Marlins Shutout Braves
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Marlins returned the favor on the Braves Tuesday night in Miami.
Jorge Campillo, Will Ohman and Mike Gonzalez combined on a 2-hit shutout in a 4-0 Braves win Monday night. Charlie Morton was pitching a shutout tonight until he hit a bump in the road in the 4th inning... he walked two Marlins, then Mike Jacob hit one over the right field wall... 3-0 Marlins.
Rick VandenHurk, the Marlins rookie with only 1 Major League game under his belt, pitched like Cy Young tonight, working five scoreless, hitless innings.
Only once did VanderHurk get into trouble, that's when he walked 3 straight batters in the 4th inning... he got out of that jam by striking out Jeff Francoeur and Kelly Johnson and getting Mark Kotsay to fly out to shortstop.
Jeff Nelson pitched the 6th inning... he gave up the Braves only hit of the night... a harmless Chipper Jones single.
Nelson, Renyel Pinto and Matt Lindstrom finished up what VanderHurk started... a 1-hit shutout.. a 4-0 Marlins win.
