Braves Fall Short Against Arizona
The Atlanta Braves squared off with the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon in a rubber match.
The game started as an excellent pitching duel. The Braves Aaron Harang versus Arizona's Chase Anderson. But the shutout ended in the top of the 6th inning.
Justin Upton hit a line drive shot over the left field wall to put the Braves up 2-0.
The Diamondbacks would answer.
They exploded in the 7th inning. Rookie David Peralta at the plate hits his first home run of the season, the first of his career in the Major Leagues. The game is knotted at two.
The Braves pull from Harang and turn to the bullpen. Luis Avilan comes in and walks a batter. David Hale follows with even more trouble on the bags. Paul Goldschmitt hits one to the deepest part of Chase Field. The park wouldn't hold it. The Diamondbacks would send 10 batters to the plate in the bottom half of the 7th inning, scoring six runs.
The Braves threatened late in the game, scoring two in the 8th and one in the 9th. But, Atlanta falls to Arizona 6-5.
The Braves travel from Phoenix to Denver to begin a series with the Colorado Rockies.
