Cleveland Speedway SOLD
The Cleveland Speedway has a new owner, but the future of the track is still unknown.
At a 5 o'clock auction Thursday afternoon, Chickamauga's Al Chapman cast the winning bid.
That bid was $800K for the track and land, and $7,100 for related equipment.
The additional land is 23 acres.
Auctioneer Flipper McDaniel said the Gladys Johnson family hadn't operated the track in about ten years.
Cleveland Speedway Incorporated bought the track from the family and filed for bankruptcy in 2011.
Chapman did indicate that he bought the track and land as an investment.
No word yet if it will continue as a race track.
