Germany Blasts Brazil In World Cup Action
Both teams came into the World Cup with impressive credentials. But as the field worked its way down to the semifinal, it was evident Brazil had some chinks in its armor.
But no one thought they could get exploited like Germany did. Neymar and Thiago Silva were both missing in Brazil's lineup. But Germany decimated the host nation team 7-1. It could've been worse.
Germany sliced through Brazil's defense as if it wasn't even there. In the 11th minute, Thomas Müller scored on a shot between the legs of the Brazilian goalkeeper.
After the first goal, the floodgates would open. In the 23rd minute, Miroslav Klose jammed a shot into the goalie. It was blocked, but Klose was ready for the rebound and drilled it into the net. That made it 2-0.
One minute later, Toni Kroos scored off a crossing pass, striking it with his left foot into the corner of the net. Two minutes later, he would strike again. 4-0 Germany.
In the 29th minute, Sami Khedira made it 5-0. The Brazilian faces in the crowd told the story the scoreboard could not. Looks of utter disbelief, sobs and tears filled the stands.
Understand this: Germany scored four goals in a stretch of six minutes. A shocking shellacking. Germany was extremely precise, dominating in possession and shots on goal.
Germany has won its way into the final game against the winner of the Netherlands versus Argentina contest tomorrow.
