The Chattanooga Mocs finished up a four-game homestand Thursday night hosting the Furman Paladins... the Mocs hoping to win 3 of those 4 games and keep alive their hopes for a strong finish and a higher seed as they head into next month's conference tournament in Asheville.
The Mocs tied with UNC-Greensboro for 5th place in the North division. Furman in 5th place in the South division.
The Paladins, who had lost four in a row, and were missing four of their players tonight, never really mounted a threat.
With Gee McGhee leading the way, the Mocs jumped out to a quick 6 point lead, stretched that to 8, to 10 and to 12 by halftime... their biggest halftime lead of the season in any of their conference games.
And they played a lot of that first half without Drazen Zlovaric in the middle. The big senior our of Serbia took an elbow from teammate Lance Stokes. That bloodied and broke his nose.
Zlovaric did return to the lineup before halftime, wearing a Freddi Kruger mask.
The Mocs kept adding to their lead in the second half... that lead eventually grew to 37 points, as the Mocs get their biggest Southern Conference win since 2005.
83-49 the final. McGhee scored 16, Eric Robertson 14, Farad Cobb 12 for the Mocs, now 11-15 overall, 6-7 in the SoCon
They'll play at Wofford Saturday, back at the Roundhouse to host UNC-Greensboro a week from tonight.Mocs Crush Furman
