On a night when Illinois shocked top-ranked Indiana 74-72 on a buzzer-beater, the Chattanooga Mocs ended a month of struggles beating the Citadel at the Roundhouse.
The Mocs won at the Citadel back on January 10th, but had lost 5 of their 6 games since then, including the last 4 in a row.
Drazen Zlovaric established himself inside early... he was too much for the Bulldogs to handle, and sparked the Mocs to an early lead, which they kept for pretty much the entire game... Zlovarich finished with 18 points.
Ronrico White joined the party as the Mocs started to stretch their lead... Rico scored 19.
Zlovarich had 14, Rico 12 in the first half, and the Mocs forced 11 turnovers, which produced 17 points. Citadel had no points off turnovers, and trailed by 7 at the break.
The Mocs started pulling away in the second half, stretching that lead to 16, and when the Bulldogs would creep a bit closer, Gee McGee became the mad bomber, hitting from inside, and outside.
McGee finished with a career-high 22 points, as the Mocs coast to an 89-76 win.
They're now 9-14 overall, 4-6 in the SoCon.
The Mocs will host the College of Charleston Saturday night at 7:30. That's the first of two straight double-header nights at the Roundhouse. The Lady Mocs take on Elon Saturday at 5, then face UNC-Greensboro Monday at 5, before the Mocs matchup with Samford.Mocs End Skid, Beat Citadel at Roundhouse
