The Chattanooga Mocs were hoping for some of that karma the Lady Mocs had last Friday when they shocked the Tennessee Lady Vols at the Roundhouse, when they went to Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas Thursday night to take on the 7th ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
I guess these Mocs are too young to be intimidated. They took control of the game early, outscoring the Jayhawks 7-2 to start the game. Later in the first half, freshman Farrad Cobb put on a three-point-shooting clinic... nailing six three pointers, a UTC freshman record, and the Mocs had run their lead to twelve points... 36-24.
Cobb set a freshman record with 6 steals in Monday night's season opening win over Tennessee Temple.
Kansas scored the last two buckets of the first half to make it 36-28 Mocs at the half... Cobb had 18 of those 36 Mocs first-half points.
The Mocs stretched their lead back to 12 points early in the second half, then the Jayhawks got their wakeup call.
They outscored the Mocs 11-0 to cut the lead to 1... then went up 44-43, their first lead since it was 2-0.
That run became a 19-1 run, as the Mocs went more than twelve minutes without scoring anything other than a free throw.
That'll get you beat every time. And it did tonight. 69-55 seventh-ranked Kansas beats the Mocs.
Ben McLemore led the Jayhawks with 25 points.
Cobb paced the Mocs with 21 points, Z Mason scored 11, Drazen Zlovaric had 10.
The Mocs will be back at the Roundhouse Sunday afternoon, 3 o'clock, to host Southeast Missouri State.Mocs Fade In Second Half, Lose at Kansas
