The Chattanooga Mocs played their first game at the Roundhouse this calendar year Thursday night, hosting Appalachian State in a Southern Conference game.
The Mocs, who split four road games after winning the Dr. Pepper Classic on December 29th, scored only 14 points in the first 12 minutes... Tab Hamilton had that many by himself... and the Apps had a 12 point lead.
Dontay Hampton and Z Mason sparked a 10-0 Mocs run, and with five minutes left in the first half, the Mocs had erased that deficit, tying the game at 29.
But the Mountaineers closed the half on a 9-1 run and led 8 at the break.
Hamilton and the Mountaineers kept pulling away in second half... their lead growing to 19 with 8 minutes to go.
Ronrico White and the Mocs made another run...
that 19 point deficit was down to five with just under four minutes to go.
Mason hit a three-pointer, then a putback... Hampton nailed a trey, and the Mocs had tied the game with 18 seconds left.
App State missed a shot at the buzzer, we head to overtime.
A Hampton trey a minute-and-a-half into overtime gave the Mocs their first lead of the night.
They led by four with 20 seconds left. An App trey made it a one point game.
White's two free throws with six seconds left finished up the Mocs amazing rally. They come from 19 down to force overtime, then outscore the Apps 13-10 in the OT for a 91-88 win, snapping the Mountaineers 5-game winning streak.
Mason scored 23, Hampton 22, White had 17 for the Mocs, who'll host Western Carolina Saturday night.Mocs Rally to beat App State in OT
