Top MLB Pitcher In Chattanooga Wednesday
Baseball history is underway at AT&T Field.
For the first time in Chattanooga, a $215 million pitcher is on the mound.
Clayton Kershaw, starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is playing Wednesday night in Chattanooga while rehabilitating a strained muscle in his back.
The famed left-handed pitcher has won two National League Cy Young Awards... and drew thousands to the stadium.
Many Chattanoogans secured their tickets early.
"To see someone like Clayton Kershaw pitch live, right here in your backyard... it's kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially for this organization," says Cody Wampler.
Russell Bean says, "I'm a big sports nut, so I wanted to see Kershaw. He's probably the best pitcher in baseball."
One fan said he has two reasons he made the trip from Nashville.
"Clayton Kershaw. And see the Lookouts win. That's it," says Michael Dixon.
For loyal fans, Kershaw's rehab appearance in Chattanooga solidified their plans to attend tonight's game.
Drew Fry says he and Cody work together, and saw an article online at the same time. "He came up as soon as he read it and I was pulling up the same article. We were both like, 'Dude, Okay, that'd be pretty cool.' We go to the games anyway, so we definitely made it out for this one."
Kershaw is expected to return to the Dodgers May 5.
