Hollinquest is SoCon Player of the Month
Chattanooga Lady Mocs basketball senior Shanara Hollinquest was named the Southern Conference Player of the Month for November the league office announced Thursday.
Hollinquest leads the SoCon in scoring with 20.1 points per game and is tied for second with 8.6 rebounds per game. With 141 points scored this season, the Sylacauga, Ala., native now has 1,279 career points and moved from 13th on the UTC all-time scoring list to 11th overall surpassing Jennifer Wilson (2000-03) and Lisa Porter (1980-83).
She recorded double-doubles against East Tennessee State, No. 16 Georgia, Kentucky and Kennesaw State and now has 19 over her four-year career. She had a season-high 26 points and 12 rebounds against Kennesaw State on Day One of the DoubleTree Classic and was named to the all-tournament team.
Hollinquest is the current SoCon Player of the Week, her sixth in three years. This is the fourth time she has been selected the league’s Player of the Month since it was inaugurated in 2008-09.
The Lady Mocs are off to a 2-5 start and 0-1 in conference play. Chattanooga will kick off a three-game home stand Saturday at 5 p .m. against Furman.
