Mocs Trio Shines in Rocky Top League Play

Halfway through the Season, Mocs Hoopsters Holding Their Own

Three University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Basketball players are participating in the Rocky Top Summer League in Knoxville, and all three are putting up good numbers half way through the season.

Rising sophomore Ricky Taylor is playing in the league for the first time and is averaging 17.7 points through three games with his team sponsored by First Tennessee Bank. Teammate and rising junior Jeremy Safore played in the league last season, and is averaging 7.3 points per game also on the First Tennessee Bank Team.

Mocs signee Omar Wattad, who is a transfer for Georgetown, has seen action in just one game and scored 10 points for his team, sponsored by Ray's ESG.

Cleveland State Community College's Ryan Westbrooks also plays in the league and is averaging 11.7 points per game.

The Rocky Top Basketball League is in it's third year of existence and includes those who played either high school or college basketball in the state of Tennessee. Games are played Monday and Wednesday night at Bearden High School in Knoxville. The season ends with a playoff on Thursday July 2nd.
