Mocs Hoping For Record Crowd For Saturday Opener
The Chattanooga Mocs kick off their season Saturday afternoon when five-time defending Southern Conference champion Appalachian State visits Finley Stadium.
A crowd of over 14,000 greeted the Mocs when they played Glenville State in the opener a year ago... the first game for Russ Huesman as the head coach, and the first game for B.J. Coleman as the Mocs quarterback.
The Mocs, who were 6-5 in Huesman's first season, were fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision in home attendance in 2009, and are looking to move closer to the top this fall.
Season ticket sales have reached a record 2,570... and with over seven-thousand tickets for Saturday's game already sold, a capacity-or-better crowd is expected for Saturday's season opener.
The UTC Athletics Department will extend its regular ticket office hours to 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) on Thursday and Friday to accommodate sales for Saturday's game.
In addition, the Mocs will also open the St. Elmo ticket window at Finley Stadium on Friday, Sept. 3, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. The St. Elmo ticket window is located on the south side of the stadium under the suites/press box.
The regular UTC Ticket Office is located next to Gate 1 on the concourse level of McKenzie Arena and opens during the week at 10:00 a.m.
