Ooltewah & Marion County Advance to Playoff Semifinals
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Matthew Polk scored two touchdowns Friday night to lead Ooltewah to a 14-7 win over Farragut in the quarterfinal round of the Tennessee Class 5-A playoffs. The Owls will host Murfreesboro Oakland in next Friday's semifinal round.
In class 4-A, Maryville won their 73rd straight game, 28-8 at Rhea County.
In class 2-A, an extra point was again the difference in the Marion County vs Boyd-Buchanan game. The Warriors failed on a two-point conversion try and lost 21-20 at home back in September. Tonight, they made their extra point, the Bucks did not. Marion County wins 7-6, and will play at Alcoa in next Friday's semifinal round.
The defending class 1-A state champion South Pittsburg Pirates lost 13-6 at Trousdale County. That snapped the Pirates 27 game winning streak.
In the second-round of the Georgia playoffs, Ridgeland was eliminated by Flowery Branch, 21-14.
Rome beat Sandy Creek and will face Statesboro in next week's Class 4-A quarterfinals.
Calhoun beat Westminster 38-20 and will host Toombs County in the 2-A quarterfinals.
Pepperrell beat Callaway 40-20 and will host Fitzgerald in the 2-A quarterfinals.
And in the second round of the North Carolina class 1-AA playoffs, Murphy stayed unbeaten with a 20-0 win over East Surry. The Bulldogs will host Hendersonville in next week's quarterfinals.
