Vols Lose to Purdue in Paradise Jam Championship Game
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The 9th ranked Tennessee Vols went up against 6th ranked Purdue tonight in the championship game of the Paradise jam in St. Thomas. Wayne Chism scored 14 first-half points for the Vols, who led by four points for most of the first 20 minutes. But the Boilemakers' E'Twaun Moore found his touch.... he had 15 first-half points... Purdue led by a point at the break.
The Vols regained the lead in the second-half, but Moore and his Boilemaker buddies regained the lead for good with 7:53 to go. They led by 5 with 2 minutes to go, but the Vols roared back.
A Bobby Maze bucket with 19 seconds left made it a one-point game.
Purdue's Kelsey Barlow missed two free throws with 17 seconds left, giving the Vols a chance to win it.
Maze gets the ball to a wide open Wayne Chism, but his three-pointer bounced off the backboard. Purdue wins 73-72.
Moore scored 22 to lead Purdue, Chism scored 24 to lead the Vols, who'll host the College of Charleston Friday.
