Vols Lose to Purdue in Paradise Jam Championship Game
The 9th ranked Tennessee Vols went up against 6th ranked Purdue tonight in the championship game of the Paradise jam in St. Thomas. Wayne Chism scored 14 first-half points for the Vols, who led by four points for most of the first 20 minutes. But the Boilemakers' E'Twaun Moore found his touch.... he had 15 first-half points... Purdue led by a point at the break.
The Vols regained the lead in the second-half, but Moore and his Boilemaker buddies regained the lead for good with 7:53 to go. They led by 5 with 2 minutes to go, but the Vols roared back.
A Bobby Maze bucket with 19 seconds left made it a one-point game.
Purdue's Kelsey Barlow missed two free throws with 17 seconds left, giving the Vols a chance to win it.
Maze gets the ball to a wide open Wayne Chism, but his three-pointer bounced off the backboard. Purdue wins 73-72.
Moore scored 22 to lead Purdue, Chism scored 24 to lead the Vols, who'll host the College of Charleston Friday.
