Report: State Wrestling Tournament is Heading to Franklin
The Tennessean newspaper is reporting that the state traditional wrestling meet will move to Franklin's Williamson County Agricultural Expo Park next season and for the foreseeable future. Williamson County will now host the duel and traditional meets.
"We know there will be negative reaction in some circles because it's been there in Chattanooga and a lot of people use the term that Chattanooga has such a great fan base and is the home of wrestling," Ronnie Carter, executive director of the state association, told the Nashville based newspaper.
"That's part of it. We have to make a decision that's in the best interest of the whole state."
Chattanooga has hosted the tournament for nearly three decades. 2010 will mark the 50th anniversary of the traditional state championship meet.
