Vols Win SEC Tournament Opener

Day One Update

The 15th ranked Tennessee went up against LSU this afternoon in the opening round of the SEC tournament in Nashville.

The Vols struggled to beat the Bengal Tigers in Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago... they struggled again today.

Wayne Chism's early trey gave the Vols a 3-2 lead... a lead that lasted 35 seconds.  The Vols were tied or trailed the Bengal Tigers for the other 19-minutes-25-seconds of the first half.

The Vols did pull even on a Chism free throw with 1 second left in the first half, then opened the second half with 5 straight points to take the lead.

LSU caught up... the Vols then scored 8 straight points and never trailed again.

Chism scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds... Bobby Maze had 14, J.P. Prince 11 in the 59-49 Tennessee win.
