NASCAR Changes Dates for Atlanta, Talladega Races
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The fall race at Talladega Superspeedway will be pushed back next year. Talladega and NASCAR officials announced the change Tuesday.
The 2009 Sprint Cup race will move to Nov. 1 nearly a month later than it's being run this year.
Atlanta will get an evening Labor Day race now run at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Fontana will receive Talladega Superspeedway's fall race. Atlanta's October race will move to Talladega.
Talladega Superspeedway President Rick Humphrey said the move deeper into the chase for the Sprint Cup championship brings added
intensity to the race. The spring race will add a Friday ARCA RE/MAX Series race.
Officials say the moves are designed to help Fontana, which has struggled with overwhelming heat during its Labor Day weekend race.
